The One We Never Knew

I had a dream once of a house filled with little smiles;
A place where laughter filled each room.

Once a secret grew out of God’s pure love;
He blessed us with a little life that we cherished so.

This beautiful child in His image grew;
But we knew not how long we had to pray for him or her.

We prayed for His will, but were told to question, "Why?"
He is perfect and we prayed for grace.

Only seven precious weeks we cradled our child;
But the Father chose to take our baby, "Sunshine."

I cannot ask "Why?" although I prayed for health;
Because of grace, I trust His hand.

Although it hurts and my arms will never hold on earth;
I love this babe I never knew with all my heart and soul.

I am the mother of two children;
And I thank the Lord for His many blessings.

Will I ever have a house full of little faces?
This I know—God has a house full of smiling children.

The ones He chose—
Thank you, Lord, for the one we never knew.
